Started school today. Damn, what a rude awakening! First class was a lecture hall big as an auditorium. There must have been 400 people in there!! That was physiology, and after that went right into lab. Got paired up there with a girl from Iran. She is intense, I thought she was going to try to memorize all of the material right there during lab!! Then the instructor, a teaching assistant, pulls out a bucket, has someone put gloves on, and out of the bucket comes half a human head. Nobody puked, that would've made things very interesting.
After that it was right over to math. The instructor just droned on about administrative stuff. If I were teaching one of these classes, I would make all the info available and tell everyone they are responsible for reading it, and get right into class. This guy held us a few minutes over, you could tell most everyone had another class to go to cause people started squirming. He didn't have a lot of good things to say about the textbook for the course, and I took it to mean all the homework would come out of a workbook the school puts out. That, and the fact that the bookstore web site said the book wasn't required. So, I checked online for the assignments, and most of the stuff is coming out of the textbook!! Good thing I found one a while ago on Ebay, paid $20 for the thing.
Then it was back to the same lecture hall I had visited in the morning, only this time it was for Western Civ. The instructor is an ancient lady, been teaching this shit for years. Basically I'll be taking notes twice a week for this class, and on the third day a TA leads a 'discussion'.
That's it, time to get back to it.....
