This is a test. I just installed Dragon NaturallySpeaking on my laptop.
Just trying to get the hang of working the dictation. It is amazingly accurate.
I installed it because, it is not easy typing the notes I take in class, or rather typing the notes that I need to from listening to the recording of the lecture. I can listen in and talk at the same time and do not have to stop the recording quite as often.
On another note, I just finished the book Black boy by Richard Wright. It ended up more abruptly than I thought it would, I assumed the story would follow him to New York and at least on to Europe. I just wasn't thinking. I had read the Wikipedia article and did not really put two and two together, if I would have assessed it more closely, the original publishing date with is a, I would have known it would not go that far.
It is odd, if I am typing what I say, or rather what goes down, and is different than what I would say.it is all new to me though, personally, because although I have watched radiologists dictate reports, I have not tried it myself. I am also trying the commands. For instance, "open -- quote" and "new line" and "new paragraph" I'll work as commands sad properly. Also, "line up" and "line down" work equally well when said in the proper manner.
That last paragraph took a while to dictate with all the quotations, a rather quotation marks. I'm hoping I'll get the hang of it though. I find it interesting that the program will space between words, and double spaced between sentences. I learned writing that way in the military and have found very few actually type this way. Anyway, with practice it should be much easier to transcribe the recording of the lecture rather than stop and start the recording is often as I have to. It can take up to three times as long to transcribe, or rather Garner the appropriate notes from the lecture. There is also a feature that will transcribe a recording Rummy Sony recorder, which I have. I'm anxious to try that as well.
Like I said it is amazingly accurate, and based on this post it seems to me, with just a little practice, I will be foregoing typing altogether, or at least as much as I can.
