There is a guy does a blog I've been reading here. This particular post, I showed to my wife, she .... well, it's in the comment section. My last response is here for posterity....

Yes, I understand your point. I cannot get past the feeling though, that both parties, and the media in general, are apprehensive to give the concept any attention at all, as if there is an underlying understanding not to breach the subject. Any reasonable person has to admit that there is a definite disparity between the racial climate in this country as it is perceived, as compared to how we conduct ourselves individually in social situations where racial notions could possibly play a role. We would like to believe society is beyond allowing race as a factor in the political arena, but are we doing ourselves any favors denying it to the extent we do?

On another note, my son didn't graduate high school on time. It was obvious early on he failed a class, so he completely gave up and failed all by the end of the semester. We talked about it, he planned on sitting on his ass and hanging out with friends all summer. I asked him to either go to summer school or get a job. He lives with his mother, who I was never married to (not that that makes a difference), and who he has lived with for a little over year, in another state. So, I called him one day and got on his ass to make some plans for his future, and asked him to call me back. He never did, of course, so I sent him an email...
Ok, I asked you to call me a week ago. Are you going to?

This was his response...
Probably not, can't we just communicate by email? It's a lot simpler for me, and this way we both don't have to put up with one sided conversations.

Not sure how all this will play out, but we'll see.
