Richard Dawkins has often expressed faith in the ease of evolving eyes. It shows what strong faith he has in the power of RM and NS. Although he was completely wrong about this, he still has immovable faith in the power of Darwinian evolution. This is because his speculations rather than being based on evidence, simply depend on his very fruitful imagination.
People touting intelligent design lately have taken to saying that those who practice a scientific method rely on faith that the process will work. Below is a quote from a comment on the same post...
Yesterday I think I figured it out and this verifies it - If ID’ers and Creationists are said to be superstitious, darwinist are certainly deficient in some type of medication as having a type of ADHD - My diagnosis: HYPERACTIVE IMAGINATION SYNDROME. Perhaps Dawkins only real problem is needing a drug to help him pay attention to relieve him of his ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVE DISORDER. Maybe he just didn’t evolve the needed chemical pathway for rationality.
thank you all very much…
Talk about hyperactive imagination, the last five words allude to the delusion that millions are applauding his 'reasoning' to thwart the diabolical schemes of scientists. Anyway, here is what the dictionary has to say about the word 'faith'.
Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.
That is just one, but it is the definition that pertains to religion. Below is another, that could relate to science, albeit at a stretch...
Confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.
Now here is the definition of science...
A branch of knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws:
The two are incompatible, and relating one to the other, that two such ideas could be related in the least, displays the hyperactive imagination of the likes the commentator described.
One more thing. From the blog above, there is this on the 'about' page...
Uncommon Descent holds that...
Materialistic ideology has subverted the study of biological and cosmological origins so that the actual content of these sciences has become corrupted. The problem, therefore, is not merely that science is being used illegitimately to promote a materialistic worldview, but that this worldview is actively undermining scientific inquiry, leading to incorrect and unsupported conclusions about biological and cosmological origins. At the same time, intelligent design (ID) offers a promising scientific alternative to materialistic theories of biological and cosmological evolution -- an alternative that is finding increasing theoretical and empirical support. Hence, ID needs to be vigorously developed as a scientific, intellectual, and cultural project.
It is akin to a tantrum from a child. "There are lots of people that think like we do, waaaah. So you need to take us seriously, waaaaaaah." I really shouldn't stoop to such language, it's childish. :)
