I found myself listening to music to and from wherever I go every day, so I decided to do the audiobook thing again. Since I am wasting the time with music anyway, I figured I would waste the time with stuff I've read but can't remember much of. More often than not, I will tell someone I've read this or that book, but can't remember a thing about the book. Too much information? Probably.
First up was Mill's On Liberty. The first few chapters are so coherent, for me anyway, it would be difficult to find another source of clear thinking concerning personal liberties in the context of a society of individuals. It is not very long, and I've already finished it, so next up is Sam Harris' The End of Faith. So far, it is not so much a critique of faith, rather a set of arguments against faith, explained in detail. He starts off describing the last day of a suicide bomber. Then, asserts that you can infer only one thing from his actions on that day alone - his religion.
This morning I was wandering the Internet, and Norm's site is always a good place for good information. On critical thinking he has a link here. I am off to find similar sources.
One more thing. For weeks now I've been making what is, in my opinion, the perfect margarita.
1 part repasado Petrone
1 part Cointreau or Gran Marnier
1/2 part lime juice
1/2 part lemon juice
Limeade or Squirt as mixer
I have tried different combinations of the above, but it is never bad. Your favorite mango juice or flavored drink will make an excellent mango margarita. It is the Petrone, simply uncorking the bottle and intercepting the redolent particles released with the olfactory apparatus lets one know that this shit belongs in a margarita. I explained this to someone the other day, they put on pained airs. Their opinion? Petrone should be imbibed chilled. Fuck that.....
