An interesting story here.
Basically a High School kid loaned a friend a copy of The God Delusion. The other kid's father got pissed and implored the principle to punish the kid that loaned his son the book. Nothing ever came of it, but the principle tried to bully the kid, giving him all kinds of irrational justifications for the things they might dole out as punishment. The kid was sensible and demanded official justification and the school backed off.
I emailed the principle of the school, one Dr Martha Cobble. I asked if it were true that she told a student it is against the rules to read certain books. I doubt she will respond, of course, but it still amazes me that people even now deny any kind of reading material to teenagers.
