Big changes around here. My wife's youngest son is getting harassed in boot camp right about now. My youngest is still here, but he lives with his mother and is visiting us for the summer and will be a senior next year. Other than that, I found out class starts a week earlier than anticipated. Monday is the first day, and the session will run every day for four hours; an hour and a half class and a two and a half hour lab. One of the biggest problems... well, not a real problem, let's call it a big inconvenience, will be the split. There are two lab sessions, one right after class, and one after the first lab session. There is no good reason for insisting on the second lab session, so I won't push it and will get volunteered for the second. Campus is forty minutes away, but it is out in the boonies so most of the students will have a long commute and I'm sure most will have better reasons for getting school done in one straight shot.

The oldest boy came for a visit Friday, as is true most weekends. This time he came with a friend that just bought a 1990 mustang. When they got into Tucson they were going through the construction, the stuff that will last for three years, and there was an accident. His friend either wasn't paying attention, or there were no brake lights on the trailer he ran into, nearly full on, and ruined the car. The airbags were deployed, and the insurance company will total the car.

It sits in the driveway. The cops cut out the airbags, and his friend drove it here. He talked to his insurance company over the weekend, and they told him to leave it and there would be someone to take care of it Monday, Tuesday at the latest. It is still in the driveway. We made sure someone was here both days, but since my wife didn't have to work Monday we could get stuff done in shifts. Yesterday however, she worked so I was holed up in the house all day waiting, and they never showed up. Today I'm leaving the keys in the car and doing what I need to do. There is much to do before class begins on Monday, and being the lazy bastard I am a lot of it won't get done to begin with. Take now for instance, I should be out getting a paintbrush to take care of one of the many minor projects going on here, but instead I feel the need to blather on about stupid shit even though there is nothing earth shattering going on in the world other than the usual.

I did read last night about something called a guinea worm. It is a parasite that affects people who generally get their water straight from a standing water source. It produces a worm in human subjects that can get up to three feet long, and pushes out through the skin of the host when it is in water to lay eggs. Bizarre. There are gruesome pictures all over the Internet, and lots of information of course.

Speaking of reading, my recreation reading is over for the most part. The only reading of that sort I will be able to do will be listening to books while driving. I have five textbooks here for the classes I will be taking. Fun fun.
