Humor can be good. If you can deliver a punchline you can have a lot of people paying attention.
There are quite a few that criticize Comedy Central's Daily Show for being biased. There are a lot of people that criticize Fox News as being biased. Both allegations are blatantly obvious. The difference is the setting. One features comedians posing as news reporters, the other is people practicing journalism. The Daily Show is FAKE NEWS. They are supposed to be absurd. Sure, it is obvious where they lean, but even the Democrats cannot escape their nudging when they say and do stupid shit, which is at least as often as Republicans.
Fox News on the other hand is supposedly a professional news organization, where responsible journalism is the norm. I bring this up in light of the comments made by the chairman and CEO of Fox News....
AILES: It is true that I said Britney Spears looked great at the Academy Awards -- and I later found out it was Jack Nicholson.
It is true that, just in the last two weeks, Hillary Clinton has had over 200 phone calls telling her, in order to win the presidency, she must stay on the road for the next two years. It is not true they were all from Bill.
And it is true that Barack Obama is on the move. I don't know if it's true that President Bush called Musharraf and said: "Why can't we catch this guy?"
These are supposed to be jokes, but how bright must the yellow be in their journalistic facade before the people that watch that shit wake up to what is really happening.
The was brought to my attention after reading that the comments caused the democrats to cancel a debate set to air and be co-sponsored by Fox News. At first I was ok with that, it brings to light a little more how partial Fox is. But, after reading some editorials there were some good points made for doing the debate despite the CEO's antics. There would be a lot more conservative people watching than would otherwise. That was the gist of it anyway, though that in itself is debatable. Still, seeing the candidates debate would be good no matter the venue. I've seen Joe Biden a couple of times, surprising because I don't watch television, and he's either intelligent and sincere, and has some good ideas, or he is very well rehearsed. I would like to see him get questioned by some of the so-called 'hard hitters' from Fox. Any of them really, if they are good enough to run the country, they should be good enough to stand around while any conservative hounded them.
