I've been reading a book my wife gave me called The God Delusion. Richard Dawkins has lived his life touting atheism and science as a cause against religious dogma. It has led me to videos and transcripts of discussions and articles by like minded individuals that have been discussing issues around religious beliefs. There are articles and sound bites in abundance about this. I've realized that there is recurring theme throughout. The theme is this; the fact that people take their morality from their religion does not entitle them to respect for their religion. I've said it before, but in a different way... more aggressively I guess. I find it ridiculous that people use their religion, or their beliefs as a shield for the way they live their lives. They believe they are immune to criticism if they have that crucifix around their necks. This to me is debilitating to society in general.
