There is a story on CNN today about some towns that are already being affected by strict laws concerning illegal aliens. The headline is - Crackdown on illegals takes toll in Pennsylvania town

The residents are complaining about losing business, business that comes from people that aren't registered. Some that are complaining aren't even themselves residents, in the true sense of the word. They are the very illegals that the laws are cracking down on. Here is what gets me though. Everyone agrees that people, if they come to the U.S. to live, should follow that proper procedures. The 'bleeding hearts' even agree that this is so. So, I'm not really sure what the debate really is. Most people agree that procedures should be followed, it only makes sense.
They quoted an illegal worker from the area...

A 32-year-old Mexican who slipped into the United States nine years ago to find work said he has no intention of registering.

"What is the mayor gaining by this law? I'm not a drug trafficker, I don't run around in gangs. I do my job and I go home to my family," said the married father of two, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of his immigration status.

I have a big problem with this. This dude doesn't think I should. Sure, a lot of illegal workers are basically honest people, but they don't see how they are taking from the other residents, the legal, taxpaying residents. They either don't see it, ignoring the fact, or are illuding themselves.

The illegal workers aren't paying the income tax that other legal workers are paying. Those taxes pay for essential services that benefit the legal and illegal workers alike, but the burden falls only on the legal workers. So, just because someone doesn't break the law in other ways, and they spend their time working and with their family, doesn't mean they are not hurting, albeit in a roundabout way, the legal residents.

Then there is the author of the article. They are trying to build a case of sympathy for the illegal worker. We are supposed to sympathize with him, because he is a hard worker, with a family, just like us. That is fucking hogwash, and it is insulting that someone would attempt to play on another's emotions in an unreasonable manner. These people are a burden on the community services that they do not contribute to. Not one can argue that they have no impact, because just by virtue of their presence they do. Their kids attend our schools, which we pay for. They use our roads, which we pay for. There is health care; we won't let anyone die if we can help it, and it costs taxpayers money.
