Ok here we go. I was reading an article about how the US is feeding stories to the 'free' press in Iraq, and paying them to run the stories, when I decided I needed some comic relief. Actually, I was looking for releif from my Spanish homework, I can't believe I want to take 3 more semesters of this shit. So anyway, comic relief. I turned to Comedy Central, where they post scenes from the latest shows of The Daily Show for people to watch. Apparently Jean Schmidt, a republican congresswoman from Ohio, was throwing character assassinations around, deriding democratic congressman John Murtha for supporting a withdrawal from Iraq. She said she talked to a Marine Colonel, and he wanted her to give Murtha, a former Marine, a message...

He also asked me to send Congressman Murtha a message. That cowards cut and run, Marines never do.

No big deal, right? Republicans and Democrats alike do it all the time. She has to use someone else's words for the bashing, but few politicians are known for their backbone anyway. Well, immediately following this little scene, Jon Stewart showed another clip of Schmidt. Here is what she said that time, just two months prior, at her first address to congress after taking office....

I pledge to walk in the shoes of my colleagues, and refrain from name calling, or the questioning of character. It is easy to quickly sink to the lowest form of political debate.

How the fuck do they come up with this shit?!?! They did it with Cheney too. Still, nobody will listen. It seems nobody is really listening.
