New developments....

First he tries the 'no backbone' approach. However, the video is all over the net, and the message is crystal clear. Anyway, his weasel attempt....

"I didn't say 'assassination.' I said our special forces should 'take him out.' And 'take him out' can be a number of things, including kidnapping; there are a number of ways to take out a dictator from power besides killing him. I was misinterpreted by the AP [Associated Press], but that happens all the time," Robertson said on "The 700 Club."

Here we have his words verbatim...

You know, I don't know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it. It's a whole lot cheaper than starting a war.

If that isn't calling for assassination, I don't know what is.... It must have been pointed out to him, because while I was searching for the video, or at least the text of his interview, a new statement was put out....

(CNN) -- Conservative religious broadcaster Pat Robertson apologized Wednesday for calling for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez during Monday's broadcast of his "700 Club" program.

"Is it right to call for assassination? No, and I apologize for that statement," he said in a written statement.

He is taking his cues from Bush and Rove, calling attention to one part of his interview, hoping people will be too stupid to read the whole thing. Someone must have given the man a shovel....
