I was reading the opinion section of the local paper, and there was a letter from a truck driver in Tucson.

In response to the July 7 article "New highs at the gas pump expected":

I have a couple of questions for the oil company executives spreading the B.S. propaganda of a barrel of oil costing $90 per barrel in 1980 "after adjusting for inflation."

Just what exactly is this magical, mystical formula you're using to compute these figures?

Can anyone show us this equation? Quite obviously no one is able to substantiate this farce.

Do they really think we're all fools? In the 1980s, an hour's work at minimum wage bought 4 or 5 gallons of gas; today that hour's work will barely buy 2 gallons.

So I say to all you oil people out there, check the definition of integrity, and maybe you'll learn something!

We're not buying your B.S.!

Truck driver, Tucson

I just had to write in…..

Phil, a truck driver here in Tucson, wrote in to ask if the 'oil people' think we are all fools.

They are counting on it!! And yes Phil, although you may not personally be 'buying their B.S.', the majority of the public either accepts it or doesn't care. The people that put out these numbers are counting on the majority to accept them while they sit like good little drones in front of the tube and wait patiently for the next episode of Housewives to come on.

Go ahead Phil, pull out that PS2 controller and get busy! Repeat after me, "Everything's fine. Everything's fine. Everything's fine...."
