The government has a sex education web site. This being a 'conservative' government we have, some people don't like what the web site suggests. That will be the case for any government, there will always be someone that doesn't subscribe to the point of view.
I looked at the web site. It is a message to anyone that has the responsibility of taking care of a child. People are complaining what the site is suggesting when it comes to sex and teenagers, so I checked it out. Nobody would argue that teenagers should wait till a mature age to experience sex of course, and I'm sure there are professional studies that would show it could lead to problems in life. The web site touts this, which is really no big deal. There is, however, a problem with the sources of information they use I think. That, and the way the web site makes statements....
"They may be more likely to engage in unprotected sex."
'may be more likely'.... Shouldn't they be putting out definitive information? The statement is just a little ambiguous I think. Then there's the sources I mentioned.
"55% of teenagers have tried oral sex."
Guess who the noted scholars are that came to this conclusion. Seventeen Magazine!! Oh yeah, I trust them as a source for all my health information. They have lots of scientific studies they garner information from, so I don't understand why they are using this magazine and making such wishy washy statements. This is just my opinion, and I really should be working on a paper for English anyway.....
