So on and off I check out this conservative forum website, and have even posted some stuff, mentioning my posts there in an earlier post here. My whole point in the last post was that the whole point of the thread that I started there got thrown way off track. It got thrown off by this Talisman person, who insisted on ranting about people denigrating the American Flag.

This is supposed to be informed, intellectual debate. There are a few that would like to put out their opinions and not be overbearing and confrontational about it, but there are also some that insist on being confrontational. So much so that it seems to be the underlying theme of the whole forum. For instance, here's one of the 'topics' of the forum

"The Family, a novel concept", is the heading of the group of forums, which consists of two sub-topics...

"The Happy Home" - Issues affecting your happy home~Education, kids, pets, significant others, etc.

But here's the one I like, it kinda sets the tone for the whole thing....

"The Abortion Debate - As If It's Debatable" - Is having an abortion a valid symbol of womanhood?

Sounds friendly to me. See, what gets me about this title is this is supposed to be a site where people come to share ideas, and they even tout that they welcome ALL ideas. The title says otherwise. The title basically says that within the framework of the forum the issue has already been decided.

To be fair, there were a few that accomplished nothing with their posts other than to welcome me into the conversation. Even Talisman did, just before she trashed, or tried to trash the thread I started. There were a couple of people got the gist of the quote I put out, and they even tried to steer it back to the point, but the few that wanted to do some 'flag waving' wouldn't stop about it.

Then there's the news forum. Someone thought an article about Saturday Night Live's comic depiction of Rush Limbaugh was interesting. They had a puppet of him puking in the bathroom with pills all around. What gets me about it is the article states that a person they were quoting preferred not to reveal themselves for fear of retribution from the executive producer. Talisman posts a reply that says she is sure it was the executive producer, Michaels, even though the report says it wasn't. Someone called her on it, but there is no reply, not yet anyway.

I just noticed the way one of the members describes himself in the forum. "ethicalgop - The anvil that falls on liberal's heads".

Sounds like a friendly place, eh?
