Ok, I've heard it too much. "Let's get over it and work to make things better." "The country has spoken." "We should now heal."

The point is never raised that half the country vehemently opposes just about everything Bush and his cronies stand for. "The American people have given us a mandate." This what Cheney says. I wonder if he actually believes that, or if he's smarter than that. I was always taught that this is a government of 'representatives'. Everyone from the President on down represents the American people. Does the constitution say somewhere that you only have to represent those you agree with? Does a congressman concern himself only with those that voted for him? Or her, I guess I should say. We are supposed to be electing our officials according to who can do the better job of administering this country. Somehow this concept has been lost. This administration has admitted they believe that since they have been elected that this gives them the green light to do whatever the fuck they like. Somehow those people that disagree don't even get a voice. Some would argue that they used their voice during the election. Does it stop there? The only time we are to exercise that voice is during the time it takes to fill out one of those ballots? I don't think so. Our elected officials should be listening to the ALL of the people, not just a select few. For them to say they have a mandate just proves they are not listening, and don't ever intend to.

Anyone in their right mind would say this is just not the case. The same thing goes for the president. He is supposed to look out for the whole country, not just those whose views differ from his. That is the difference between the two parties. Like I said before, when most republicans get into office, they feel they are given a green light to push their ideas onto everyone else. Others won't, because they know it is wrong. Bush is slaverin over the empty seats on the supreme court that are going to need to be filled during the next four years. If republicans had their way, all federal judges would be 'conservative'. The fact is that the country is split right down the middle on all the issues, the election shows that, and this is what the government should reflect. It would be the proper thing to do, so as to follow the spirit of the constitution.

Oh wait. If we don't agree with the constitution, we can just change that. Hell, there are some republicans that would really like to have constitutional amendments to make it illegal to practice any other faith besides christianity, illegal to oppose war at all, illegal for anyone other than Anglo white to vote. That's right, there are still way too many people in this country that think all races besides the white race are inferior. You know, come to think of it. I'm sick of tolerating the views of others, while those that don't share those views don't tolerate mine. I'm sick of hearing my brother imply that I'm fucked in the head because I don't subscribe to his point of view.

Hmmm, I wonder if he ever reads this..... Not that it matters, there is nothing I will say here that I won't say to his face, much to his dismay. Yeah, he'd probably hang up on me if we were on the phone and I asked him to keep his jesus freak shit to himself. :)
