Just got back from seeing a film, Howard Zinn: You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train

On the way home I saw a couple of flags flying in our neighborhood. Is there a problem with flying a flag? Well, not really, except as Bill Mahr says, when you fly it and think you are actually doing something. But I did have a problem with these flags flying. Am I unpatriotic? I must be, if I have a problem with people displaying our national colors, right?

I don't display a flag on our house. Why? I'm not disciplined enough for it. Yep, a simple thing as putting out a flag every day is beyond me. Does THIS make me unpatriotic? I say no. Why? Because I know that I will fail to do it properly, so I don't do it. Hey, it's a free country. So what about these people that fly the flag, they have the discipline to display our standard, don't they?

See, in my opinion, if they were truly patriotic about it, they would understand how to properly display the standard, and I wouldn't see it as I have today. They would know that I shouldn't have seen it. Huh?! Make sense!! Well, see the movie we went to see was kinda late in the afternoon. It being October, the fall season is about upon us. That means it gets dark early! It was dark on the way home from the movie. Now, if by chance there is someone other than myself reading this, and that someone else still doesn't get it, therein lies the problem.

The flag, in order to be properly displayed, should be taken in at sunset! There was one guy wanted the whole world to see just how ignorant he is of the customs concerning the standard in our country, and had a spotlight on his. He's gone the extra mile in his patriotic duties!! And I'll bet he followed the 'commander in chief's' advice and has a huge SUV in his garage as well. He's doing his part, he'll be damned if he'll let them fuckin terrorists win!!
