I don't know, call me skeptical....

Burglar nets $1M from just 1 home

The woman whose home was burglarized said she's not concerned about the stolen possessions but is worried about the safety of her neighborhood.
"This is a man, a person who came into my house, and was 6 inches from my bed," said Jocelyn Blair Stoller. "Do you know what that's like? I don't care about my material possessions. I just want my peace of mind."
The thief took a 5 1/2-carat diamond ring, valued at $250,000, from the home in the Rancho Sin Vacas neighborhood, as well as other jewelry, car keys and about $400 in cash, Kingery said.
The burglar was seen by a houseguest, who thought the noise she heard in another room was coming from her host, Kingery said. Stoller said she was sleeping as the man searched through her bedroom. She woke up when her guest called out.
When her guest called out, the man got spooked and left the home, Barkman said.
It's believed the man came in through one of the home's sliding glass doors, which were open. The house had an alarm system, but it was not armed, Barkman said.
The burglar was described as short and slender, wearing a striped shirt and a white baseball cap.

Now, what I want to know is, how is it this 'guest' heard what was going on, but the lady, who was right in the same room, didn't hear a thing? Gated community, people in the house... Unless the alleged burglar lived there, how the hell did they get into, and out of, this 'gated' community? You have to do some kind of pre-planning. And if you are going to go through all that trouble, you are going to go to the trouble of making sure THERE'S NOBODY HOME!

Didn't mean to shout, but let's get real. A person stupid enough to be taking shit out of a bedroom occupied with someone sleeping right there definitely isn't smart enough to make it into a gated community. And, if the dude made enough noise to wake someone up in another room, how is it he was quiet enough that this lady right in the same room wasn't disturbed? If I were investigating this shit, I'd be looking closely at this 'guest'.....

To be fair, things could have gone down just as described in the news article. But there's more...

Stoller said she's upset that the Sheriff's Department has yet to arrest anyone in what appears to be a string of related burglaries.
"Why hasn't the sheriff done anything about this?" she said, adding that officials should have warned residents about the burglaries in their neighborhoods.

Excuse me?! How the fuck is the Sheriff supposed to do anything, if YOUR FUCKING DOOR IS OPEN??!!
