Andrew Sullivan has been posting commentary for himself and others about assisted suicide. The latest shares some emails relaying personal experiences.

It is sad to contemplate the situation today. Just a few in this country that dwell on our fragile existence, and are concerned only with events surrounding expiration, they are the minority no matter their volume. Yet they have forced the rest of us to state individually, formally, what is considered basic humane treatment. These few would have us suffer, and proclaim that suffering a virtue bestowed graciously by a fantasy benevolent entity, when the norm is to treat our animals with more dignity.
