Books. There have been a number in the last few weeks. It is surprising how many I can get through just doing audio books.
Just finished Under The Dome by Stephen King. Very long book. It wasn't as good as it could have been, he got too technical about what conditions would be like if a dome suddenly covered a small town. Better than his last though, Cell.
Before that it was Bright Sided by Barbara Ehrenreich. Not much research went into this, mostly personal anecdotes about her breast cancer experience and research from older works rehashed. Full of interesting information though.
I got through The Portable Atheist by Christopher Hitchens as editor. He put together excerpts of works by known atheists, and as one would guess, could be very boring at times. I found the quotes by Einstein interesting. Theists love to throw a few quotes out that show him coming out with the 'god' word, but they completely disregard context, and in light of his many assertions contrary to the god concept should be considered an agnostic, with a strong distaste for the idea of an anthropomorphic deity.
Started The Golden Compass series by Philip Pullman. I am almost through The Subtle Knife and have Amber Spyglass loaded and ready to read. Actually reading this one on the Nokia N800 Internet tablet. The writing in these books is really bad at times, but the story is a good one. It wouldn't matter though, I have to get through them to see what all the fuss was about coming from 'good christians'.
Some others:
Ubik by Philip K. Dick
The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood
The Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison
Black Swan by Nassim Nicholas Taleb
Superfreakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner
Fingerprints of God by Barbara Bradley Hagerty
I think that was all. I am in the middle of Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama on the player I use around the house, but it's boring, and I tend to keep away from listening to things at home if what I have on that player is boring. I don't know if I will finish it. Next up is something by James Mitchner, Poland I think, though I haven't really decided yet.
