Any reasonable person would admit that religion must stay out of politics if government is to be effective and efficient for all citizens. In this respect, Americans blatantly disregard that notion. It is one of the most important aspects of our constitution, and arguably the one that is swept aside first when an agenda is on one's mind.

This is all over the news today. It is no wonder they kept things quiet, as it has had to have been in the works much longer, because it is such a stark departure from the American grain.

The political spotlight will shine on Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama Obama on Saturday night, when the two candidates will face tough questions focused on personal values, presidential leadership and international affairs.

The Rev. Rick Warren, author of the best-selling book "The Purpose-Driven Life," will spend an hour interviewing each candidate at his 20,000-member Saddleback mega-church in southern California.
