Glad you're retired and no longer spouting your ideas to the troops. I spent 26 years in the military. I was a volunteer just like you. I knew what I was getting myself into. Presumably you did too. I knew that I was giving up some of my constitutional rights to be in the military. Presumably you did too. I noticed that you put up with this terrible injustice until you were able to retire. Took you at least 20 years to get the "mindset to strike a nerve with your sensibilities". Fact is no one put a gun to your head and you weren't drafted and you should know more than most that the military isn't a job it's a whole other lifestyle.
If you were ripped of by a business establishment you would tell all your friends about it and warn them to stay away. By putting an establishment off limits the military is telling it's members the same thing.
Aside from the fact that these are not arguments for justifying the restrictions, it is a perfect example of what some military members will resort to when they don't have a leg to stand on, and have even the slightest notion they have some authority over another. I spent lots of time deflecting such abuse from myself, as well as my troops when they were harassed by others, which happened enough to leave just a hint of animosity for automatons like this.
Reading further someone puts on display, for the world to see, their idiocy. This is typical of comments at this website...

Like, maybe....sending them to get killed by IEDs, killing others, etc.???? Why do we send kids to do a "man's" job??? Seems to be something slightly on the shady side of morality there...
What's really telling, and amazing, is a response to this comment...
These young men are trained to do their jobs in Iraq and Afghanistan. Because they are not aware of how predatory car salesmen work doesn't make them less qualified to do their job. Just as it wouldn't make you or anyone else less qualified to flip burgers.
Holy fuck. This dude first says that critical thinking skills aren't necessary to do the jobs required of military personnel in Iraq. As if this lunacy weren't enough, the reasoning goes even further into the depths of irrationality by equating military jobs with flipping burgers. I would venture to guess that in his haste to disqualify the remark he found annoying he didn't stop to think at all about what he was actually saying.
