Ok, here we go. Keith Oberman was on the airwaves again ranting about some shit going on yesterday, Veteran's Day. Some anti-war people were denied to protest at a parade in California, and he was upset about it. I have no problem with his rant their, (not that my opinion is important in the least) but then he ranted about the 'Marlboro Marine'. There was a picture of a LCpl taken a while back, battered and bloody, with a cigarette in his mouth, and was splashed everywhere. It acquired the caption above.
Now apparently the guy is having problems. He was forced out of the service for failure to adapt, and has had a difficult time finding a means to support himself. Oberman was all over it, ranting about how this vet is having such a hard time. Although he says nothing that correlates the two, the insinuation is that his problems stem from his service in Iraq while in the military.
My dislike of Oberman is getting worse. His 'reporting' on this guy in this manner is right down there with Bush using 9/11 whenever he tries to rally support for something. That aside, there is a good chance that this man's problems have nothing to do with his time in Iraq, or with his military service at all. There is the possibility that this guy had problems before he started his short military career. There is a good chance he joined the military BECAUSE of these problems. People on the extreme left have no problem complaining about the military using people with financial and mental problems, and then spout about the problems these people have when they are back in the civilian world, again insinuating it was the military service.
Keith Oberman is transforming himself into an extreme left blatherer. His rational commentary has become popular because it was rational. It has gone to his head, and he pulls shit like this to fill his time on the air.
Keith's video and the picture of the Marine they are talking about can be found here on Crooks and Liars, a good site that for the most part delivers good content. I left a comment stating the above sentiments, so I'm sure I'll get virtually flogged because of it, even though I was spouting about the fucked up situation Bush was getting us into even before the shit started, and while I was still in the military. I thought about preceding my comment with those facts, but I find the comments that start in such a manner to be annoying.....
