There is an op-ed piece in the Washington Post that says we should be packaging science for religious minded folks, so it will be more accepted. I commented.
The truth sells itself. It is religion that needs to be sold by its very nature. If people are swayed by the salesmen, that is their problem. Dawkins is selling science in the most efficient manner, hawking the truth backed by evidence, and putting on display the inconsistencies with religious beliefs.
The article claims reconciliation between science and religion is possible. That is bunk, because religion is bunk. Complicated issues are BORING. There is no way around it, and trying to package it for general consumption will ultimately lead to 'spin', because then it becomes a contest as to who can best sell it, because the best salesmen get the grants for more research.
They criticize Dawkins by saying he is alienating theists, which is not helping the cause of scientists. A point was made on another blog that Richard Dawkins has sold millions of books, and the writer wonders how they reconcile this fact with their notions that he is not selling his message. A very good point.
