I'm having trouble with my homework. The last chapter is about Java, which is more programming than html. I don't like it, never did. I learned basic on a VIC 20, and tried C once, but when I get to arrays something breaks down and I cannot assimilate the concepts. So, I had lunch with a friend that programs for a living, and he tried to explain it. I still can't do the homework - it's simple shit, I know it's simple shit, but I can only go so far. It's probably due to my mental laziness.

So, while I was setting up lunch, the Internet went down. This led me to troubleshoot the network here, of course. On the cable modem, you have to reset it by pulling the plug, and in so doing I noticed that the CAT 5 connection was registering only 10Mbps, which is odd cause I thought everything was capable of 100Mbps. I figured it had something to do with the router, an old Linksys I have, and I switched it with a D-Link I bought recently. After configuring everything, I find the connection now runs at the faster speed out of the cable modem, and the Internet connection is much faster.

Anyway, I went back to following my favorite links. Found an article written by a columnist that feels he just has to talk about religion in his column, because it is just one topic of many related that interest him. Theists respond by asking him why he feels he needs to talk about it, why they should be subjected to it. Here is his response...

How do we reply? An ad hominem response would be to remark that when the Church had the upper hand it was happy to persecute, imprison or behead non-believers and fight crusades against other religions. Now it has lost its boss status it simply asks us to keep our opinions to ourselves (but still wants laws to criminalise us for mocking its pretensions).
