Ok, another issue. This will be posted in response to someone on Youtube that questions whether marijuana should be illegal as it is now...

Drugs - This why I believe marijuana is illegal. This is not to say I agree that it should be illegal, but there are justifications.

You are right, you have the right to choose the way you live. This comes with a responsibility to others to afford the same treatment and respect.

Like it or not, you live in a society with others, and with that comes those expectations of consideration and respect for others. As a responsible member of society, in my opinion, one must be a productive citizen. Productivity within a society is necessary of the members of that society if that society is to sustain itself and grow.

Marijuana fits into all this because it hinders a person's ability to be productive. I do not know how, I have not used it myself, but I once considered it and sought the opinions of others that have tried it and quit using it.

In MOST cases, those that didn't use it said it affected their ability to take care of their day to day responsibilities. As one person said it, "I didn't want to do anything but munch, dude!" In other words, it robs you of any ambition.

This is a problem because ambition is necessary for a society to function. This is my opinion about why it is illegal, but the case can be made for legalizing it and all drugs, because making them illegal takes away our rights to make reasonable choices as adult citizens of society. However - and this is just my opinion - it is illegal because even as adults, most adults are not capable of ACTING as adults. They don't take care of their responsibilities to be productive citizens of society, and cannot handle using marijuana or other drugs in a way that allows them to enjoy the benefits of those substances and still function.
