Kim Stanley Robinson wrote three books about the terraforming of Mars in the near future. Red Mars, Green Mars and Blue Mars. They were long books, and I can't believe I got through all of them, considering how bored I get with series books. I did though. They were well done, not nearly as boring as I thought they would be. There were hum-drum parts, but I got through them. It was worth the time.
I'm still in the middle of The God Delusion. It's good, but haven't had much time for it, since I have to actually read it and I've been busy with the textbooks for this semester. I guess when it's all said and done I can add those to the list as well....
