I've finished 1864 by... shit, I don't even know. Of course, there is always Amazon, our database for published works. It is by Jay Winik, and now that I see it I remember. The title is really April 1865, The Month That Saved America. Very informative, as I said before, but not at all what I expected. The author never says why he thinks it was that month, unless I missed it, which is entirely possible. If it is there, it is buried beneath a relentless deluge of minor inconsequential facts about some of the major events. Like Lincoln's assassination, his killer's flight, capture and death, and lots of background history of some of the major players of the end of the civil war. I did manage to get through it though, unlike Shelby Foote's work. I will probably finish that one, but it will be a while before I do. There are too many other things I want to read.
I'm still in the middle of the Octavia Butler book, second in the series of which I don' t know the name. Mind of My Mind, short book but very good.
I worked late this weekend, both days. I really don't mind working late, usually, but I did this weekend. I worked with a doctor that could have finished his work on time, but took a lunch break the first day, and did a lot of bullshitting with the other radiologist yesterday. There are others that will sit there and get through the work, keep at it until it is done. I was there for two extra hours yesterday. I got some studying done though, and some reading done. Doing my best to understand the spanish verbs, but it's difficult.
Time to get ready for work, then 3 days off. Not sure what I'm going to do yet, but I'll think of something, hopefully constructive.....
