I'm still not done with the book, but he gets better. It has made me think of so much shit that I don't know where to begin.

First of all, he redeems himself a little, in my opinion. He doesn't offer suggestions until the end of the book. The recovery isn't complete however, because he never goes far enough, again my opinion, in placing responsibility where it truly should be. (Sometimes I don't like when I get this way, I'm by no means perfect, and I would hate to be one of those people that tell everyone that will listen, and even some that don't, what is wrong with the world, and proceed to spout one-line remedies that, if followed to the speaker's specifications, will create a utopia on earth) Anyway, I was just sitting enjoying a moment next to my wife, thinking about all this shit, with my mind wandering. I have no short term memory though, so by the time I took a dump and fired up the computer, everything was gone. Maybe if found its way into the toilet along with the rest of the excrement produced overnight.

One thing I got to thinking about was all the leisure time we have in the world. All this globalization is making things more accessible to everyone. I guess that's debatable. There are definitely more people with access, but that could be due to population increases. Be that as it may, the fact is that people have more access, the extent of which is irrelevant. At least here in America access is no further than the local library. I submit that there are too many people willing to spend way too much time on mindless leisure activities, rather than spending time doing things that can be relaxing and constructive at the same time. There isn't enough pressure to be gainfully employed in improving oneself somehow. I could fit the contents of an entire library on a thumb drive, but that means nothing without someone willing to access it to improve themselves.

Not sure where I was going with this...
