I’ve finished Wild Seed, by Octavia Butler. I finished it today at work, though I should have been doing homework. Very interesting book, I couldn’t put it down. It is the first in a series of five books written by this woman, and even that is interesting. It is the first in the series chronologically, but wasn’t the first one written. In fact, the first written was the last in the series, and the order she wrote them in jumps around chronologically in the series. I hope the rest are as good as this first was. If so I may finish the series, something I rarely do, even they are short books as these are.

The basis of the story is two people who are immortal. One survives by delivering his essence from body to body when needed, and the other repairs herself as needed, and can keep herself truly as young as she likes. They actively help others like them survive, though they have found no others yet that can live longer than normal as they do.

I’ve read a little further in the Graham Greene book, but it still is getting no more interesting. I guess I will look for something interesting right up to the end…
