It took my wife's dog almost a full minute to go from lying on his side to lying on his stomach. He is getting very old, and soon it seems he will have a hard time getting around on his own. At times I catch myself walking by him and stopping to make sure he is still breathing. We give him this medicine that is supposed to help with his joints, and I think it works really well. At times he's bouncing around... or I should say acting like he would bounce around if he was younger and was able, when he gets excited. His body moves slowly, but his eyes are still alive and young as ever. It's the only reason my wife doesn't put him down, he is still happy to see people.
I'm not looking forward to the day he is no longer with us.
