Well, well, well. Things are... Oh shit, my wife just said, "I hate people, I really do." This just after seeing a picture in the campus paper of some old lady pawing at dubya's face. She says it looks like she's rubbing his cheek as if he's god. Too funny. Anyway, the reason for this particular hissy fit.

Ann Coulter was here yesterday, and I have a lot to say about that, but I have to clean up all the comments I made as I watched her speak. Needless to say, there's controversy, and things came to a head last night. I didn't stay for the whole thing, missed some questions and answers, but I also missed a couple of people trying to throw pies at Ann. They missed, and she joked about how they couldn't hit her even at close range. That shit is rude, and they are ignoramuses for trying such a stunt, and that in itself is enough fuel for 'conservatives' to have a field day with 'liberals'. You would think that people would be content with that, but it wasn't meant to be.

Here is a headline from MSNBC....

Columnist Coulter hit with custard pies

No, she did not get hit, but that's the headline. You would think they would clarify that in the article.....

TUCSON, Ariz. - Two men ran onstage and threw custard pies at conservative columnist Ann Coulter as she was giving a speech at the University of Arizona, hitting her in the shoulder, police said. ('University police arrested the men but did not release their identities.
In her half-hour speech Thursday night, Coulter trashed Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry and derided liberals and Democrats while saluting conservative students who attended her speech.
Coulter writes a column for Universal Press Syndicate. Her appearance was sponsored by the UA College Republicans.

Then they attribute the story to AP. What those people tried with the pie was bullshit, but what MSNBC did with the article is even worse. Oh, I'm sure they will retract what they printed, but nobody ever reads that shit! Well, enough said on that......

I really should be working on English, but I wanted to look up the actual AP article, and came up with interesting tidbit...

They (the young republicans on campus) were upset that a student group paid $27,000 for a visit this month by far left filmmaker Michael Moore, which took in substantially more than that. Coulter's $20,000 fee was paid by the Virginia-based Young America's Foundation and by private contributors. Her talk was free.

So really the only fiscal difference between the two events was that Moore got paid $7,000 more, but Ann's talk was 'free'. Isn't that just the way with republicans, throw the money around to make a point, then twist it all around. On the surface you get the impression that Moore was paid big bucks for his speech, while Coulter did it out of the goodness of her heart. The tout the difference in the price of a ticket; Moore was $5, Coulter was free. Yet there were 3 times as many people at Moore's talk, and they had to pay people to check bags and keep the order inside, which they failed miserably at, by the way. If the republicans would have paid for security, there would have been people checking bags, and the pies wouldn't have made it in. Hey, here's a wacky idea, what if they 'wanted' something like that to happen. Keep security loose, so something like that does happen, and then they have fuel for the fire. I know, far out, but no more far out than some of the shit going on because of this heated contest to take place in just a few weeks....
