Ok, so there's another essay due, though not so soon as the first one. This time I have to come up with a lot more shit because the paper has to be twice as long. On top of that, the last ones sucked so bad she's allowing us to redo them. The only problem with that is, I won't have time for this one, let alone time to revise the last one. I'll find the time somehow.
Anyway, this time we are supposed to analyze a film within an ideological context. I have chosen The Missing. Oh, I think I've already discussed this part. Oh well, anyway, my 'proposal' came back approved, and I'm supposed to 'get to work right away'. That would be fine, I'd love to get to work, but I really have no clue what to work on. I guess that's the reason for this shit, get some ideas brewing. My proposal said something about films justifying and sustaining the distasteful stereo... I don't know why I'm trying to re-type this shit when I can just cut and paste.... sustain and justify the distasteful stereotypical characteristics of Native Americans, while at the same time compel the audience to accept the current Native American plight. Yeah, that's it. I said something about intentions of the director, but I think I need to leave that idea behind. I want to go with something like, whether film makers intend to or not, they only do harm when they make a movie that depicts Indians, or any minority for that matter, to that particular group's... cause. Not sure if 'cause' is the right word there, but whatever.
By Thursday we are supposed to have a working thesis, and also quotes from the shit that was put out for us to use as references. See, that creates a bit of a dilemma for me. I've already read a lot of the shit, but I read really slow, and I'm going to have to read this stuff several times to find stuff that I can use. I just don't have the time. I know, I could be doing that instead of bitching about having to do it. The point here is to come up with some ideas. Think I'll stop here, getting frustrated cause this just aint workin....
