Traffic in Los Angeles...

It's fuckin crazy!!  We took my daughter to Hollywood.  We also visited Venice Beach and Santa Monica.  There's lots I could say about these places, but I haven't the time right now.  The traffic is horrific there.  I grew up in Detroit, and I've even been there recently, but it still didn't prepare me for the roads of this southern California town.  There are so many people in this area that it's basically become one huge metropolis that stretches all the way past San Bernardino.  Just to give you an idea, San Bernardino is 60 miles from LA, according to Yahoo, but extends from the coast to well beyond.  Traffic is so heavy in this whole area that Interstate 10 is at least 3 lanes of highway from the coast, where it starts (or ends, depending on your perspective), to well past Palm Springs over 120 miles away.

That's 120 miles of 6 lane interstate!!!  And how bad is it to travel these blue highways?  We decided, my wife and I, that it might interest my daughter to see Palm Springs on the way back to Arizona, so we left early on Friday.  We thought it would be early enough to beat rush hour traffic leaving the city, anyone in their right mind woulda thought 2:30 in the afternoon is still hours away from this Interstate menace.  So, we set out, secure in the knowledge that this city was just like any other American city, and that the parking lots were well behind us.

The people of LA and the surrounding areas would've known better, they would have to because they apparently deal with this all the time.  I still stick to my statement that anyone in their right mind would've thought as we did, because these people cannot by any stretch of the imagination be in their right minds if they deal with this shit every single day.

We left Venice Beach at 2:30 in the afternoon, like I said.  By 7:00 we were passing the exit leading to our waypoint destination of Palm Springs.  Yep, over 5 hours to go just over 120 miles.  Well, we did stop to eat, so lets put it at just over 4 hours.

If you haven't been to Los Angeles but plan to visit, and you live anywhere outside this area, catch a plane.  Otherwise, be prepared to spend hours in traffic, no matter what time of day it is.
