I've got a moment, I figured I would catch up on the booklist. Not much to catch up on though, I'm still trudging along with The First Man in Rome. It's ok, any other comments will have to wait till I'm really done with it.
I did, however, finish Altered Carbons by .... hell, I forget... Richard Morgan. (I have no idea what I would do without the Internet to look this shit up) Fairly decent book. I had that on the Clie. Thousands of years in the future, people live in a small piece of hardware inserted at the base of the brain, called the Cortical Stack. Any personality can be installed in this hardware, effectively separating the conscience from the physical body. The story is about a rich guy whose 'stack' is ruined when he is killed, which would effectively have ended his life, had he not had a digitized backup of himself already installed in a clone of his body, called a 'sleeve' in this book. He hires someone from off world to investigate it, and the story unfolds from there.
Not sure what I'll read from there next. I had started Poisonwood Bible, but it just didn't hold my interest.
