I've been reading Bill Maher's book, If You Ride Alone, You Ride With Bin Laden again. Only because we are going to see him on stage in a week. Yep, he's coming to Phoenix on the 11th.

We heard he was coming during... I think I talked about this already... yep, I checked, already went over it. Anyway, I decided to re-read his book. More people should have the common sense this guy does. In his book he talks about the people that ride around with a flag on their vehicle. These people think that one's patriotic pride is manifested in this symbolic gesture. It may be true, but these same people believe it's all they need to do! Displaying the flag is enough, and if everyone waved a flag in this country all would be right with the world!

Bill also mentions one of Bush's remedies for the attack on 9/11, SHOP. My wife and I were coming out of Target the other day, doing our small part for the country, and we see an SUV pull into the parking lot with a flag flying from the radio antenna, and a plate on the front showing some semblance of Old Glory. I always think of Bill Maher's book when I see this. They park near us, and two heavy set women get out of the vehicle. We're talking obvious laziness in the flesh. These women would probably go into shock if someone mentioned exercise. I tell my wife, "It's probably mean to say this, but it looks as if those women really took Bush's call to consume to heart.

I hate to judge people, and more often than not, when you really get to know people it turns out most are ok. I really don't mind lazy people, I'm one of the laziest around. I don't mind overweight people, I have lots of friends that wouldn't mind shedding some extra pounds. Everyone has faults, and most people have some very redeeming qualities, like a personality. I've found that personality matters most when you are looking to spend time with other human beings. Which is really ironic, cause I've got little personality.

It's been hard lately, watching all this shit going on, and nobody pays attention it seems, "As long as I can get my $3.00 Starbucks, things can't be that bad." It makes one think, when you see shit like we saw the other day... the flags on an SUV, owned by heavy set people, I find it difficult to think nice things about these people that I don't know.
