"How do I copyright a name, title, slogan or logo?
Copyright does not protect names, titles, slogans, or short phrases. In some cases, these things may be protected as trademarks."

This is straight from the official copyright website, www.copyright.gov. What the fuck, who cares?!

I start out with this because, well, I had copied it to the clipboard on the computer, and wanted it here before I had to go back to the website and get it again. :-) Seriously, I quote it because there was a story on the CNN website (of course) about Ray Bradbury being upset over Michael Moore's movie, or more specifically, the title of the movie.

"He didn't ask my permission," Bradbury, 83, told The Associated Press on Friday. "That's not his novel, that's not his title, so he shouldn't have done it."

If I had the chance to speak to Mr. Bradbury I would express my admiration for his works, most of which I've read. I would then tell him that being a prolific author gives him no right to make such demands on someone when there is no basis for it. Other than the word 'Fahrenheit', the film has nothing to do with Mr. Bradbury's story. We could stretch it a bit, quite a bit, and say that the idea behind the book, restrained speech and thought, is insinuated by the title to be the main theme of the film, but that is simply not the case. The best argument one could possibly conceive of is that the title of the film is meant to provoke such images, which is no doubt what Moore had in mind. He's not stealing any ideas though. On the contrary, such ideas have been floating around the United States since the Federalist Papers and before, hell, it's one of the fundamental principles our country is based on.

So, to be frank, Moore doesn't need your fucking permission!!!

And one last idea. I'd be willing to bet Mr. Bradbury is a Bush supporter. I could be wrong though...
