It's been a over a week. One shouldn't surmise that this has anything to do with my activity level over that time. On the contrary, I've not accomplished much. Aside from the usual laundry, cooking and cleaning, there hasn't been much to do. Well, there has, but I haven't been able to throw myself into those projects like I should.
Four of those days I spent with my wife after she returned from NC. We had a great time as we always do. It's a good thing we do well in each other's company... or I guess we just wouldn't spend as much time together. It's one of the perks we can enjoy that comes with my unemployment at the moment. A perk for us, as I know there are some who strive for time away from the spouse as much as possible.
Friday we saw a movie. Well, my wife took me to the movies as I can't afford the price of a ticket, not even matinee. It was a toss up between Kill Bill II and The Punisher, but we should have just seen Troy as my wife wanted to. Troy is the first Brad Pitt movie I've not been overly anxious to see, and my wife is way too considerate when it comes to the two of us attending a movie together. The Punisher was lame, and we could just as well have heckled it in the privacy of our living room. I would say it has merit, it's a good movie if you love picking them apart. It would be worth seeing again just to count the number of 'staged' scenes. If you haven't seen it, and you do, watch for the snarl near the end when the 'hero' faces off with the 'villain' John Travolta. I pity that man that he had to sit through a premiere showing, he must have been so embarrassed. In one scene you could almost see the 'X's on the floor as two generic bad guys face off with the 'hero'.
It's amazing how things change after a couple of writings, or even after one writing. I had done this post earlier, but it took so long that I had to stop in the middle and do dinner cause the boys were hovering. Most of it was due to the fly that was trying to let me know I needed a shower. I hate it when flys land on me, especially when I've been lazy and haven't showered. I spent more time shoo'ing flies away than I did actually typing. Anyway, I lost that post because my wife sat right down and spent a few hours getting aggravated over a plane ticket for her son to visit NC. She did ask me about the post, and I should have saved it. I told her just to open another browser but it wasn't meant to be. Now she's out of the shower and I have to quit early again to get one myself. I guess I will edit this later....
It's later. In the first post that disappeared I talked about our visit to Starbucks after the movie on Friday. My wife always comments on how they treat their employees better'n most companies, such as Wal-Mart. They give them all benefits and a good wage. I always remind her that one of the benefits is a stock option, which won't do them any good if the economy does a nosedive. I figure Starbucks will be the first to go belly up if things get really bad. If the general population has to start watching their pennies more than they have to now, a $3+ cup of coffee will be on of the first luxuries to go. I always remark, if we aren't discussing anything else, about how a lot of people go to Starbucks to be seen more than to sample the wares, and proceed to point some of them out.
